The SCHOTT ROBAX® brand, which specialises in glass that can withstand extreme temperature fluctuations, has developed a new range of glass for wood-burning fireplaces and stoves: ROBAX NightFlame® glass-ceramic , a true innovation in the design of stoves, inserts and fireplaces.

This new semi-transparent, black-tinted glass offers characteristics that are highly valued and sought-after in the field of vitreous-ceramic glass:

  • A cosy fire.
  • A significant reduction in the visibility of the combustion chamber once the fire has gone out.

What is a glass-ceramic panel for wood stoves and inserts?

This type of glass offers the best heat resistance properties. It has a relatively low coefficient of thermal expansion, enabling it to withstand the most extreme temperatures (both hot and cold).

Glass-ceramic ensures optimum safety when using your wood-burning stoves and fireplaces.

ROBAX NightFlame® glass for a cosy atmosphere

ROBAX NightFlame® glass ceramic is a semi-transparent glass that reduces the visibility of the combustion chamber when the fire is out, thus preserving the elegant design of your heating appliance without allowing residues and dirt to show through.

Specially designed for wood-burning appliances, ROBAX NightFlame® has the ability to let certain light waves pass through, allowing you to enjoy the flames of your fire just as well as you would with clear glass. Once combustion is complete, the glass becomes opaque (Dead-Front effect), giving way to a black pane.

With its sober, elegant design, ROBAX NightFlame® vitroceramic glass becomes a decorative element in its own right all year round.

It is now available in flat and curved glass.

This new ceramic glass is a real breakthrough in the field of glassware. It brings all the advantages of ceramic glass while offering a refined design. ROBAX NightFlame® glass was presented as a real innovation at Progetto Fuoco in 2022 and was presented there again in its curved version in 2025.

Cleaning

Cleaning ROBAX NightFlame® glass is identical to cleaning standard glass-ceramic. The added bonus is that you don't have to clean the glass as soon as combustion is complete, because the dead-front effect automatically removes the soot residue from view.

Despite the reduced visibility of ashes and soot deposits, we recommend that you clean the glass of your appliance regularly. There's nothing like the ROBAX® Dry Wiper for optimal dry cleaning.
