NEXTREMA glass-ceramic is a glass offering maximum resistance to thermal shocks of up to 820°C. It is renowned for its high transmission of light and infrared radiation, which makes it a particularly popular glass in the fields of industry and housing.
What is a ceramic glass?
Glass-ceramic is a type of glass specially designed to withstand very high temperatures. “Vitroceramic” means all the micro crystals dispersed on a vitreous phase. These glasses are renowned for resisting temperature changes and are almost invulnerable to thermal shocks.
Glass-ceramics are frequently used in our kitchens, dishes and hobs, oven glass, etc. But it is used in many other areas requiring a material resistant to high temperatures, such as in chimneys for the doors of wood and pellet stoves, inserts and fireplaces.

The advantages of NEXTREMA glass-ceramic
NEXTREMA glass is renowned for its impressive resistance to thermal shock. It has excellent infrared transmission properties, which makes it a reference material very often used as a cover for electric barbecues, infrared saunas, heating, etc. It is also used in certain industrial processes such as paint drying or welding.
The main advantages of NEXTREMA glass:
- Withstands extremely harsh conditions.
- Heat resistant up to 950°C (depending on material).
- Infrared permeable.
- Blocks UV rays.
- Non-porous surface.
- Very low coefficient of expansion of linear thermal glass.
NEXTREMA® tinted (712-3)
This tinted glass-ceramic is distinguished by its high resistance to thermal shock. It has the highest resistance to bending (effect of wind, snow, etc.) of the different NEXTREMA variants (up to 165 MPa).
This tinted glass reduces visible light while having excellent infrared transmission. It has almost zero thermal expansion, which makes it very robust.
The use of Nextrema tinted glass
This Nextrema tinted glass-ceramic is used for radiant heater covers (interior and exterior), anti-glare covers for infrared heaters as well as for decorative elements (furniture, household appliances).
